The free show will be promoted in honor of the Queen of Pop’s forty-year career
Madonna’s performance was officially confirmed this Thursday (31/3) by Itaú bank, main sponsor of the free event in Rio de Janeiro. The announcement was accompanied by a video in which Madonna announces: “Brazil, coming soon”.
The rumors began earlier this month, when it was announced that the singer was planning the biggest performance of her career in Brazil. Madonna is currently on her “The Celebration” world tour, honoring her 40-year career.
The free show is scheduled for May 4 on the sand of Copacabana Beach, Rio de Janeiro. In addition to Itaú’s investment, the event must have the financial and structural support of the government and the city of Rio de Janeiro.
Since the rumors have been circulating, Mayor Eduardo Paes has been encouraging Madonna’s arrival: “People say there will be a Madonna show in Rio. I also heard it will be in Copacabana and free. In other words, I don’t even know. I have to say no, I have neither a ticket nor a VIP area! For your attention, thank you!”, joked the Rio manager on social media.
