The second day of Lollapalooza 2024 has already begun, hampered by heavy drizzle on the Interlagos racecourse, in the south of St. Paul. In addition to the rain, the cold and wind were already annoying on the morning of this Saturday 23rd, when the festival gates opened at 11am.

Among the main attractions of the day is the Irish singer Hozierthe alternative rock band Thirty seconds to Mars and the metal of the group Limp Bizkit. The band closes the evening King of Leonwhich replaces Paramore after the group’s cancellation Titansplaying the last show of the Encontro tour.

The festival started on Friday the 22nd, on a typical Lollapalooza day. There was also rain, mud and a lot of wind on the track. On the day when the highlights were bands The Offspring, Arcade Fire and Blink-182, the event received a large audience. Read a summary here.

Lolla’s second day started out empty

Around 12 the runway was still empty. The few brave people who decided to brave the cold took refuge in the tents scattered on the festival grass and in the sponsors’ stands which provided some shelter.

The report spoke to some fans who were there, who explained that they had arrived early to see the first shows, like the Brazilian ones. Tulipa Ruiz AND Daytime foods.

Marina and Ana Paula Carvalho, mother and daughter aged 18 and 52 respectively, said they arrived early to attend the presentation of the Supla, which started around 12:30pm on the Samsung Galaxy Stage. The older one even wore a singer’s t-shirt.

The two left Guararema at 6 in the morning and arrived by train in Lolla. They say that it is now customary to come to the party and they were already prepared for the rain. “We got to 2022, which was much worse. When it starts raining we think, ‘at least it’s not that year’s rain,'” Marina said.

What to expect from the headline shows on Day 2 of Lollapalooza

Hozier: The Irishman owns the success Take me to church, but his performance at Lollapalooza should go above and beyond. She recently released an album, Unreal discoverywhich should be as present in the set list as his debut album, Hozier. The artist is known for mixing references to literature, politics and personal events: these three elements must characterize the exhibition.

It is the first time the musician has performed in Brazil in more than ten years of his career. Accustomed to doing intimate shows with reserved audiences, the biggest curiosity will be how she will behave with the Brazilian public, which has a reputation for being warm.

Thirty seconds to Mars: The duo Thirty Seconds To Mars, made up of brothers Jared Leto and Shannon Leto, are no strangers to the Brazilian lands and festivals. It was at Rock in Rio 2017 and the show at Lollapalooza 2024 marks the band’s seventh visit to the country.

In performances in other Latin American countries, the group presented a more compact setlist, with only nine songs. Despite the short show, the expectation is that the brothers will be able to win over the audience with the energy and charisma they usually bring to their performances.

King of Leon: Kings of Leon’s performance was, once again, confirmed following the announcement of the Lollapalooza lineup. In 2019, the group was announced as an attraction at the December festival. At that moment the gate was already closed. This year they arrive as an alternative to Paramore, who canceled their performance in January.

The focus of the show should be the first albums of the artists’ careers, in particular Only at night, since 2008. They have a reputation for delivering restrained performances and focusing on a true “marathon” of songs. In one of their last performances, in Mexico, the group played almost 20 songs.

Encounter with the Titans: The group, which on this tour returns to its classic lineup – Arnaldo Antunes, Nando Reis, Branco Mello, Sérgio Britto, Tony Bellotto, Charles Gavin and Paulo Miklos – declares that this will be the last performance of this reunion which began in June 2023 and this expanded in response to the appeal of fans and the packed stadiums they visited.

For this reason alone, the group’s parade in Lolla will be historic. It remains to be seen whether such an eclectic audience, typical of large festivals, will recognize the value of classics such as Animals, Sleeping Island AND food.
