Their stay there began in Europe, with shows in Porto and Cascais – in the Portuguese edition of Koala Festival. “And we open this with the super diva pop star Titicaemphasizing the “pretoguês” culture, where the Bahia invites her to play, she was not curated by the festival,” they exclusively tell Rolling Stone about the partnership with the Angolan star.

This is not the first time that the band and singer have met, they released the song “Guinea grass,” which also includes the participation of Margarteh Menezes and arrived, to perform together at the Rock in Rio.

So, of the shows on the tour, this one at the festival was the most expressive in terms of dance, culture, the body, understanding what the body can say. Tititca It is Elivan Conceiçãodancer who plays the character saci-pererê at the shows, it was incredible. The element of saci-pererê is crossing the world a lot, showing this relationship a lot.

Another highlight for the musicians was the possibility of strengthening ties with the Portuguese band Buraka Sound System“there are many connections through the Portuguese language and initially and now crossing this we have now arrived in London and let’s see how this will behave,” say the musicians who will perform this Thursday, 6th, in the English capital.

“After some time traveling with BaianaSystem within the understanding of the rest of the world, other than Brazil, within the understanding of us as a folk culture, a concept of traditional music mixed with more modern and electronic things, we now find Brazilians understanding what our DNA is,” explain the musicians.

The connection with Brazilians who live in other countries is something that the band values greatly. “We have a very real encounter with everyone who is living outside of Brazil, with a feeling of longing, as there is in the music itself’Two Cities‘.”

So we are reconnecting this continental sense of pangea, of people, you know, there is a very large cultural multiplicity, and these Brazilians are always taking friends from Europe, and they have a behavior very similar to the behavior that Brazilians end up emanating within the shows, and we believe that this is contagious.

The musicians finish by saying that they are very happy “with these shows that are packed and that the public is reacting, whether they are Brazilian or not, with the same receptivity as suggested in our shows in Brazil and it is being incredible.”

Having already passed through Portugal and Spain, the BaianaSystem is now in England. From there they head to Holland, where they perform in Amsterdam on June 7th. On the 9th the band arrives in Germany to perform in Berlin. Dublin, on the 11th is the next stop. The last show of the tour in Europe takes place on the 12th, in Zurich, Switzerland.
