Smile Maroto and Delacruz record MC Marcinho’s success again

The revisitation of “Garota Nota 100” was part of a project conceived by the funk singer to celebrate his 30-year career

The group Sorriso Maroto and rapper Delacruz have re-recorded the song “Garota Nota 100” in honor of MC Marcinho (1977-2023). The reinterpretation of the 90s song was part of a project conceived by the funk singer himself to celebrate his 30-year career. The new look is now available on digital platforms.

The new version of “Garota Nota 100” was also accompanied by a clip recorded in a villa in Barra da Tijuca, in the west of Rio, with unpublished images of the last moments of Marcinho engaged in his musical project.

Enthusiastic artists

Musician Serginho, of the group pagode, said that Marcinho was very excited during the development of the project, which would reveal itself to the funk player in a moment of surprise. “We started working and the result was so incredible that we cried together listening to each other, hugging each other,” he told the Extra newspaper.

“The Sorriso guys really wanted to surprise us and we agreed with Marcinho’s team to do it at a time when they had cameras, to capture the spontaneous reaction of this meeting, which never happened. After his disappearance, we rarely have heard this music for all the memories it ends up bringing us. We are very happy and excited about this release, because it is just as he had dreamed and planned”, added Serginho.

Delacruz commented that he was also excited about the new version of “Garota Nota 100”, as he had planned to record a new song with Marcinho. “I told him that I had a song saved, that I wanted him to record it with me. Marcinho agreed, but he got sick soon after. So I’m very happy to be part of this project, which I usually say is my favorite song in the world”, the rapper confided.

The success of the 90s

“Garota Nota 100” was one of the biggest hits of MC Marcinho, who died in August of multiple organ failure. The song was part of the soundtrack of the soap opera “Vai na Fé” (2023), which follows the love story of Sol (Sheron Menezes) and Ben (Samuel de Assis) in their youth.

“After almost 30 years, to see music being reborn again and to see soap opera getting closer to funk melody is very nice. Everyone comes to me and comments that my music is in soap opera. So I’m very happy, thank you very much”, celebrated Marcinho, vintage.
