Gilberto Gil will say goodbye to the stage in 2025. His retirement from the shows was confirmed by Gil’s press office at State this Saturday afternoon, 29.
Gil, 82, is expected to perform in Brazil, the United States and Europe and then, like Milton Nascimento, continue with music, but away from shows.
The singer began his career in Bahia, in the 60s. From 1965 onwards he travelled around Brazil participating in music festivals. Along with Caetano Veloso, Gal Costa, Tom Zé and Os Mutantes, he was one of the brains of Tropicalismo.
In more than 50 years of career, Gilberto Gil has released fundamental albums for Brazilian music, including: Express 2222, Refavela, Refazenda AND Make evident. His latest work with new songs, All right, all right, all right, was released in 2018.
