Sour, Olivia Rodrigo’s first album, received seven Grammy nominations with hits like ‘Drivers License’ and ‘Good 4 U’
Olivia Rodrigo revealed that the next record won’t be like sour (2021), the singer’s first studio album that received seven nominations at the Grammy 2022 and placed 11 tracks in the Billboard Top 40. In an interview with sheexplained how he no longer identifies with the songs and that the new projects will have a different aesthetic.
“I’m definitely not as sad as I was when I wrote sour,” he stated. “I’m excited to make my next album and explore more colors, textures, feelings and grow even more as a human being. I’m really looking forward to it.”
Rodrigo explained that at the time he wrote tracks like “Drivers License” and “Traitor,” it was difficult for her to listen to them and that she had to “keep away from the songs,” but that it is now “so much fun to sing them.” “I’m actually very proud of them,” she revealed.
The singer added: “I’m excited to sing them on tour and I hope the audience sings with me. I think when you put them out in the world and they help people, make people happy… It’s not devastating at all anymore. It’s something very empowering.”
When you recall tracks like “Brutal,” Rodrigo reveals that he no longer identifies with that kind of feeling. “I look back and think, ‘Wow, I was so distressed.’ I think I was just coming to terms with being a very young person in the industry and feeling weird about it. But I guess I don’t feel that way anymore, which is good.”
