Peruvian Housewife Makes Pabllo Vittar Go Viral in Latin America

Lis Padilla’s video teaching “São Amores” choreography hits millions of views on TikTok

A housewife from San Martin, Peru, has made Pabllo Vittar go viral in Latin America by teaching her the choreography for the song “São Amores.” Lis Padilla, 33, already has more than 4 million followers on TikTok and her video has more than 28 million views.

The beginning of the viral

It all started on June 9, when Lis Padilla posted a video dancing to “São Amores.” In the comments, a follower asked her to do a dance tutorial. After responding to the request, Lis recorded a 4-minute video explaining the choreography, while hanging clothes in her yard.

Lis Padilla began posting videos on social media in 2022, encouraged by one of her four daughters, and the simplicity and authenticity of her recording made the video explode on social media. But it’s worth noting that her choreography has a movement, probably unintentional, that gives a spicy LGBTQ+ spin to the dance.

Worldwide success

Having gone viral, the choreography and music have spread to several countries on the continent. In Mexico, players from Atlas Fútbol Club celebrated a goal with a choreography, while in Argentina fans danced the movements to celebrate winning the Copa América. The trend has also reached the United States, where a baseball player celebrated with a little dance during a match, in addition to becoming the theme of Venezuelan and Ecuadorian television. The choreography has appeared in viral videos, including in a subway in Barcelona, Spain. It has also spawned videos of Brazilian celebrities, such as former BBB members Gil do Vigor and Beatriz Reis.

Pabllo Vittar also joined the bandwagon, recording his version of the dance using the Peruvian singer’s audio. Pabllo, among other things, invited Lis Padilla to come to Brazil and she cried with emotion at the recognition. Thanks to the success of the choreography, she becomes a star in Peru, with appearances on local TV, and manages to buy a house.

“São Amores” is a re-recording of a 2007 hit by the band Forró do Miúdo, which in turn is a Portuguese version of the song “Son de Amores”, released by the Spanish duo Andy and Lucas in 2003. Pabllo’s recording is part of the album “Batidão Tropical Vol. 2” (2023).
