The singer said that members of Rush almost caused an accident during The Runaways’ show in 1977
Cherie Curriefrom the The Runawaysrecalled an inconvenient situation experienced with the Rush. In an interview with The Metal Voice (via NME), the frontwoman spoke about the 1977 tour alongside the Canadian band.
Second Curriethe group formed by Joan Jett, Lita Ford, Jackie Fox, Sandy West and she was a source of laughter for the Rush during the performance. The vocalist stated that the singers of “Closer To The Heart” were watching the performance from the side of the stage and left Jett and she irritated.
“We were treated very well by Tom Pettywhich opened for us, and the Cheap Trickwhich also opened for us, but the Rush sabotaged our set”, he confessed Currie to the program’s presenter, Jimmy Kay. “We were at Cobo Hall in Detroit. It’s a big venue. I saw them throwing pieces of paper, like 8×10 standard paper, on the stage, throwing it like it was a pizza.”
“I was wearing 6-inch platform boots and had to jump off the battery riser Sandy West” he continued. “I stepped on one of these pieces of paper and slid across the stage — and there was an orchestra pit with all the photographers.”
Currie She then said that she almost fell off the stage and was able to see the scared faces of the photographers in the pit: “I will never forget seeing them get up in fear.” The artist added that she managed to avoid the fall and “did one of those [poses de rock star] to one of the photographers.”
“I could have been paralyzed. I’m not exaggerating, I could have been seriously hurt if I had fallen off that stage. They weren’t protecting us, they were sabotaging us that night and they were sitting behind the amp at the Lita [rindo]”, he completed.
