Slash: Collaboration with Demi Lovato was ‘surprising for everyone’

To Rolling Stone, Guitarist as pop singer contributed positively to her recent album, ‘Orgy of the Damned’

slashrock star and guitarist of Armas e Rosaspraised Demi Lovatowho participated in the range of Orgy Of The Damnedan album released by him in May 2024.

The album revisits Slash’s blues roots and also features guest appearances by Iggy Pop, Brian Johnson, Paul Rodgersamong others. Demi Lovato appears in “Papa Was a Rolling Stone”cover of the song by Temptations.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Slash said he knew Demi’s work and imagined that her voice could match the lyrics of the song, which talks about the death of an absent father.

“[A participação de Demi Lovato] It was surprising for everyone involved, because she comes from the pop universe. I had this clear idea in my head that her voice could lend an emotional tone to the story of those lyrics,” said the guitarist.

He also said that, when inviting the singer, he discovered that the song had a special meaning for her:

I know her background. She’s had her share of missteps in her life and we’ve known each other for a while, so I called her up and asked her about it. It turned out the song meant a lot to her. Then she came out and delivered this f*cking powerful vocal, which I think might come as a huge surprise to anyone who’s familiar with the rest of her work.”

The singer also commented on the partnership with Slash. In a statement, Demi Lovato said that the two are longtime friends and that she enjoyed the guitarist’s positive energy when they were in the studio.

Slash and ‘the year of Guns N’ Roses’

Currently struggling with Orgy of the Damned and with your work in the ConspiratorsSlash stated that 2025 should be the year of Guns N’ Roses. Asked about the future, the guitarist confirmed to Loudwire Nights that the legendary group will be their priority next year.

“I’m going into the studio with the [seu projeto com Myles Kennedy] Conspirators, record a new album and after that, 2025 will be just Guns N’ Roses”, confirmed Slash.

It’s exciting news for fans of the band, whose members are currently working on their own projects – in addition to Conspirators, Slash released the blues covers album Orgy of the Damned in May; and Duff McKagan has announced a solo US tour (via NME).
