“Uma Estrela Misteriosa” will be released in three parts with performances scheduled for all regions of Brazil
Nando Reis has revealed details of his next “international” project, titled “Uma Estrela Misteriosa”. It is a triple album, which will have a bonus disc for those who buy the complete box set. During a press conference held on Tuesday (23/7), the singer shared the size of the project: “I didn’t imagine it would be a triple album, although I had this ambition. I’m excessive, exaggerated”, he joked.
International participations
In addition to Nando Reis on vocals and guitar, the recordings feature drummer Barrett Martin (ex-Screaming Trees) and guitarist Peter Buck (ex-R.E.M.), along with Os Infernais band members Felipe Cambraia (bass), Walter Villaça (guitar) and import Alex Veley (keyboards and ex-Dave Matthews Band). The sessions also featured guest appearances by guitarist Mike McCready and drummer Matt Cameron (both of Pearl Jam), bassist Duff McKagan (of Guns N’ Roses), bassist Krist Novoselic (ex-Nirvana) and the singer’s son, guitarist Sebastião Reis.
Production details
The Brazilian musician had already recorded with Peter Buck and Mike McCready the album “Jardim-Pomar”, recorded in Los Angeles with producers Barrett Martin and Jack Endino. The two played together in the band Skin Yard in the 90s and are back with the new album. Endino, by the way, is an old acquaintance of Nando. Producer of the first Nirvana album, “Bleach” (1989), he worked on five Titãs albums starting from “Titanomaquia” (1993).
The genesis of the album was Barrett’s visit to Brazil to make a documentary. He invited Nando to record two songs for the project. The sessions with the singer and the Infernais were so productive that they generated 10 tracks and, in the meantime, Nando composed 10 more songs. When they saw him, the meeting turned into a triple album.
The production of the album, recorded in São Paulo and completed in Seattle, USA, saw the participation of Felipe Cambraia and Diogo Damascena, in addition to the mixing by Endino.
Disk versions
The album, released on vinyl, will be offered in three units sold separately or as a box set with an extra disc. The first phase of the project, called “Uma”, is now available on digital platforms with five of the nine tracks. The song “Azul Febril” was chosen to launch the project on the radio.

The “Uma Estrela Misteriosa” tour will kick off in the Amazon region on September 20, with a show in Macapá.
