Justin Timberlake loses license after drunk driving

The singer had his license suspended for refusing to take a breathalyzer test at the police station

Singer Justin Timberlake has lost his driver’s license in New York, United States. The situation comes nearly two months after the singer was arrested for drunk driving, running a red light and failing to maintain a lane.

According to the Daily Mail, Timberlake attended a virtual court hearing last week in the coastal village of Sag Harbor, where he was arraigned on a June 18 felony driving charge. The artist, who was on tour in Belgium, has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The video conference comes shortly after his lawyer, Edward Burke Jr., attempted to dismiss the case based on errors in charging documents filed after the star’s arrest. Instead, the judge ordered Timberlake to be prosecuted following a review of the documents.

During the hearing, investigating judge Carl Irace also warned the artist’s defense about his statements from the previous hearing, calling them “irresponsible.” He then suspended Timberlake’s license, without specifying the duration of the measure, but citing that the decision was made due to his refusal to submit to a breathalyzer test at the police station.

The prosecution, led by Deputy District Attorney Ashley Cangro, also confirmed that its professionals had filed a duly signed superseding indictment on July 2. The documents corrected the error made when Timberlake was arrested.
