Vanessa Alves said she was not even informed of the exhumation of her husband, whose body was thrown among the general remains
Vanessa Alves, widow of funk singer Claudinho (1975-2002), filed a lawsuit against the Carmo Memorial Cemetery after discovering that her husband’s remains had been removed from the perpetual tomb by the administration. She informed the SBT that she had not signed the exhumation paperwork and, therefore, requested a new tomb at the site.
The widow discovered that Claudinho’s bones had been removed from the grave after a fan recorded her attempt to visit the memorial. In the video, she claims she was warned that her own family would remove the remains from the scene, which never happened.
In an interview with “Tá Na Hora”, Vanessa expressed her indignation at the removal of the remains without the presence or authorization of the owners of the grave, especially since she had not even been informed by the cemetery, as the administration claimed in recent years.
“They informed me that they had carried out the exhumation after attempting to contact the family by telegram. […] Be very sad. Since it is a perpetual tomb, they should not open it”, Vanessa lamented, adding that “the tomb was sold to another family, there is also a person [enterrada] there since 2021, when they exhumed it.”
Where are the remains?
The widow also discovered that Claudinho’s remains were placed among the general remains of the cemetery, along with the remains of seven other people. “It really shook me,” she said, mentioning that her husband was a public figure and that his fans would like to continue to pay homage to him.
Given the situation, Vanessa Alves’ defense is requesting a new perpetual burial for Claudinho’s mortal remains, in addition to compensation for moral damages of R$ 1 million and another payment for material damages of R$ 127,000.
The fight continues…
Last year, Vanessa Alves also revealed that she has not received Claudinho’s inheritance, even more than 20 years after her husband’s death. To make matters worse, the widow claimed that the courts also do not recognize her daughter, Andressa Mattos, as a direct beneficiary of the funk singer.
“We are both direct heirs and the Court does not see it. There is always a little thing here, another little thing there that is embargoed, right. We depend on that, right? I needed to get rid of the things that I had here because I needed the money to maintain the house, maintain my daughter,” Vanessa said in an interview with “Domingo Espetacular.”
Claudinho died in 2002, at the age of 26, after suffering a car accident in Presidente Dutra, São Paulo, while returning from a show. At the time, the record company responsible for the duo “Claudinho e Buchecha” donated a perpetual tomb in the name of the widow so that the funk singer could be buried with dignity.
