The cause of death has not been released, but it is suspected that the singer suffered a heart attack.
Tito Jackson, one of Michael Jackson’s (1958-2009) brothers and former member of the Jackson Five, has died at the age of 70. According to initial reports from Entertainment Tonight, the artist had a heart attack while driving in the United States.
“Although the official cause of death has not yet been determined, it is believed that Tito suffered a heart attack while driving from New Mexico to Oklahoma,” said Steve Manning, a former manager for the Jackson family.
In a statement, Tito’s children mourned the artist’s farewell: “We are shocked, sad and heartbroken. Our father was an incredible man, who cared for everyone. We will miss him greatly. It will always be Tito’s time for us. Please remember to do what our father always preached: love one another.”
Days ago, Tito shared on social media that he had visited a memorial dedicated to the King of Pop together with two other brothers: “Before our show in Monaco, my brothers Jackie, Marlon and I visited the beautiful memorial dedicated to our beloved brother Michael Jackson,” he wrote on Instagram.
Tito’s Career
Tito Jackson was a member of the Jackson Five, a musical group formed in 1964 by Michael, Jermaine, Jackie and Marlon, with Randy joining the brothers later. They were trained to work in talent shows by their father Joseph.
Among their hits, the Jackson Five have entered the history of R&B and soul music with songs such as “I Want You Back” (1969), “ABC” (1970), “The Love You Save” (1970) and the classic “I’ll Be There” (1970).
After the group split, Tito invested in a solo career with blues rhythms. His first success came only in 2016, when he released a collaborative single, “Get it Baby”, with rapper Big Daddy Kane.
Tito Jackson leaves behind three sons (Taj, Taryll and TJ) and nine grandchildren.
