Daniela Mercurio is embroiled in controversy after throwing a bench during a show

The singer says she asked for the item to be removed, but the producer responded by calling it “garbage.”

Singer Daniela Mercury found herself at the center of a controversy after her performance at the Casacor Bahia 2024 event, held in Salvador last Saturday (14/9). During the show, the singer threw a bench that was on stage, drawing criticism from the object’s manufacturer, entrepreneur Tati Mandelli, owner of Tidelli, the company responsible for the piece.

Daniela Mercurio’s justification

Mercury said he intervened after unsuccessfully requesting that the bench be removed from the stage, as the object was too close to his microphone and obstructing his performance space.

The producer’s reaction

Entrepreneur Tati Mandelli did not spare criticism of the singer and shared a video on Instagram in which she regrets the incident, calling Mercury “trash” and pointing out that the bank was a launch of her brand, Tidelli, at the event. According to Mandelli, the company employs 700 people in the metropolitan region of Salvador and its products are recognized worldwide. “Neither she nor anyone else can act like trash, because this singer is trash and has no elegance or respect for people,” Mandelli said.

Faced with criticism, Daniela Mercury took to Instagram to make herself heard. She posted a video of the scene to illustrate a text she titled “Open letter to my future friend, the Bank.” In the message, the singer explained that the attitude was not personal and that the stage is her “temple,” where she expresses herself artistically. Mercury reportedly asked repeatedly for the object to be removed, but received no response.

Reply with an encouraging tone

In her letter, the singer addressed the issue of gender, saying that women’s demands are often not taken seriously: “If you were a male artist, would you repeatedly disdain my demands?” She pointed out that when women assert themselves, they are seen as “crazy” and that when they removed the bench, she felt liberated.

A symbol of freedom

Daniela Mercury ended her message with an authoritative tone, stating that she will buy the bench and place it in the center of her living room as a symbol of her freedom. The singer encouraged other women to do the same and not let anyone tell them what they can or cannot do: “Girls, do as I do, take your stools and throw them if you have to, but don’t let anyone tell you.” what you can or cannot do. “You can do.” And she concluded: “Every woman who asserts herself frees us.”
