The heirs have turned to the court to determine what assets the artist left behind
Key Vieira, widow of country singer Chrystian (1956-2024), has begun the inventory process to identify what assets were left by the artist, since the heirs do not have this information. So far, the document presents mysteries that family members cannot clarify. The information was released by columnist Fábia Oliveira.
The widow became the principal executor because she was married in community of property. In this way all the assets acquired by Chrystian during the marriage began to belong to both spouses in equal shares. Key says that she has always been financially dependent on her husband.
To begin the documentation, Key has requested a subpoena from Abramus (Brazilian Association of Music and Arts) to try to secure the composer’s copyright. The family also intends to find out if Chrystian had any outstanding claims on the platforms Amazon, Deezer and Spotify for the correct distribution of the estate.
In complete secrecy?
A curious point in the case file is that Chrystian did not leave information about his bank assets to his wife and children. To know their financial assets, the family will have to request a letter from the Central Bank.
In the coming months, the estate will need to identify any checking, savings, or digital services accounts, as well as financial investments, life insurance, and other banking products in the country singer’s name.
The Death of Cristiano
Singer Chrystian died on June 19 in São Paulo at the age of 67. He suffered a cardiac arrest and was transported by Military Police helicopter to the Samaritano hospital, but ended up not resisting.
The artist suffered from polycystic kidney disease, a hereditary disease that causes groups of cysts to develop in the organ, and was preparing for a kidney transplant, which would be donated by his wife Key Vieira. The surgery was scheduled for March, but was postponed until the end of the year due to the singer’s health problems.
During the preoperative examinations, Chrystian had to undergo a catheterization, which required the use of anticoagulant drugs for six months, making it impossible to perform a transplant surgery during this period.
