Andromeda, a nightclub that inspired the track of the same name by Gorillazwill be destroyed to make way for apartments.
Located in Colchester, England, the site will be converted into five apartments within three years, as approved by the city council. The two-story building was purchased at an auction held in April this year.
“The proposal removes a commercial nightclub that can reasonably be considered to have reached a discordant position with the residential majority that now [sic] the fence”, informed the plan published by BBC (via NME).
Andromeda first opened in the 1960s and closed in 2021 after operating for a period under the name Ice.
Now the range of Gorillazalso called “Adromeda”, was released in March 2017 on the album Humanz — which earned the band a nomination for Grammy.
Damon Albarn previously stated that the club was a special place and where he listened to soul music during his youth.
