All Within My Hands Foundation encourages not only vocational education, but also the fight against hunger and other social initiatives

THE Metallica since 2017, the NGO has maintained All Within My Hands Foundation. Named after a song from the album St. Anger (2003), the institution’s objectives are to support professional training, collaborate in the fight against hunger, invest in sustainable solutions, among other social issues.

In 2024, a great achievement was achieved in the educational field. Together with the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC), the foundation runs a program called Metallica Scholars Initiative (MSI), which focuses on professional training and support for schools. MSI started to support 18 new schools, totaling 60 educational institutions. Each receives a contribution of US$75,000 (more than R$400,000 at current prices) to improve infrastructure and the student experience.

In a press release, the vocalist and guitarist James Hetfield commented on the important milestone achieved by the project and celebrated the results. He said:

I am so proud – we all are – to see how this program is changing lives by providing much-needed resources to empower students. It’s great that we were able to make our largest donation yet to support these students and future workers. We’ll get even further in year six of the Metallica Scholars Initiative. This year, our program will be in 60 schools in all 50 states! All thanks to your support.”

In 2019, when it began, MSI operated in 10 schools in the United States. More than 25 areas of professional education were covered, such as civil construction, engineering and health.
