The former One Direction member died in late October after falling from the third-floor balcony of the hotel he was staying at in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

On Thursday 7th, Argentine authorities arrested three people suspected of involvement in the death of Liam Paynefollowing multiple traumas and internal and external haemorrhages. The singer died at the end of October after falling from the third-floor balcony of the hotel where he was staying in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

According to the prosecutor Andrés Esteban Madreain an interview with the Sky News portal, the suspects will answer for “abandonment of a person resulting in death, dealing and aiding and abetting drugs”. An autopsy performed on Payne’s body revealed traces of crack, cocaine and other drugs.

The defendants include the musician’s personal assistant, a hotel employee and the drug supplier. Andrés stressed that Payne “was not fully conscious or was experiencing a state of marked decrease or loss of consciousness at the time of the fall.”

The investigation also examined more than 800 hours of security camera recordings and carried out a search of the singer’s room. With the evidence, the assumption is that Payne had no intention of harming himself. “In the state he was in, he did not know what he was doing nor could he understand,” concluded the prosecutor.
