The bilingual song brings a fusion of electronic pop with Latin influences
New single
Anitta released the long-awaited single “Looking for Love” in the early hours of this Friday (11/15), marking her first collaboration with DJ Alok. The new song is now available on the main digital platforms.
The bilingual song, sung in English and Spanish, brings a fusion of electronic pop with the Latin influences that have boosted both artists’ global careers. The lyrics also describe the incessant search for deep connections and new sensations.
Long awaited partnership
“Looking for Love” is a musical partnership between Anitta and Alook that has been shelved since 2017. The idea was revived after years with a new guise and in a moment of international consecration for the artists, who were nominated for the 25th Latin Grammy.
In recent days, Brazilian artists have even published a series of provocative messages signaling a competition between the leaders of the main hit parades. Internet users were intrigued by the movement and wondered whether it was a pre-bailout strategy or a behind-the-scenes discussion. Finally, it was marketing.
“This is a partnership that has been awaited for years, not only by the public, but there was also our desire to work together. The collaboration occurred at the best time, I say, because in addition to the musical maturity that we have had in recent years, there was also a professional, now we have the confidence to move between different styles,” Alok said.
“The desire for this partnership is nothing new, Alok and I have known each other for a long time. I have always cared about bringing sonic diversity to my songs, it’s something my audience expects. This venture is further proof of that. I have always admired Alok’s work. Producing this song with him is the result of joining forces and a lot of work,” said Anitta.
Think!
The music video for “Looking for Love” will be released on November 18 and promises a critical examination of the unbridled quest to validate streaming numbers and chart toppers. The album also explores the superficiality of the music world in the face of the race for digital relevance.
