Is Rod Stewart retiring? Singer explains himself after buzz about tour name

Singer called his next tour One Last Time and has said in interviews that he will retire from the stage; In view of this, it was necessary to publish clarification

It’s been some time since Rod Stewart has been saying he will retire — and then backtracking. The name of your next tour, One Last Time (One Last Time), made fans even more suspicious.

The 79-year-old singer will perform a sequence of 20 shows in amphitheaters and arenas across the United States between March and August next year. THE Cheap Tricka band that celebrates half a century on the road, will perform the opening act.

In the face of confusion — is Rod retiring or not? —, behold, he himself decided to speak out. In a post on Instagram, he confirmed that this will be his last “large-scale world tour”, but it will not represent a definitive retirement from the stage.

The statement, which has a casual tone at the end, states:

“This will be the end of large-scale world touring for me, but I have no desire to retire. I love what I do and I do what I love. I’m fit, I have lots of hair and I can run 100 meters in 18 seconds at the happy age of 79. I would like to go on a tour Great American Songbook, Swing Fever in the year 2026 — smaller, more intimate venues. But then again, I might not do that… The Ambiguous Sir Rod Stewart.”

Swing Feverthe name mentioned in the text, is the artist’s most recent album, recorded in collaboration with the pianist Jools Holland. In addition to releasing it, the singer recently toured Asia and Europe and ended a 13-year stint as a Las Vegas resident with the show Rod Stewart: The Hits. Between March and June 2025, he will return to the city with another show, called The Encore Shows.

Rod Stewart and supposed retirement

In October 2022, Rod Stewart told the Daily Record (via Igor Miranda website) that he would stop doing major tours. The idea, according to him, is to enjoy more time with his children.

“Next year [2023] It will be the end of my rock ‘n’ roll tours. I want to do something different. It feels like the end of an era. All things must come to an end. I’m not retiring and I still love singing, I’m just looking for something new. I could sing in some folk clubs playing guitar.”

The statement was repeated a few times in other interviews, until, in June 2023, Rod decided to backtrack. Through the X/Twitterthe musician said he will not retire from the stage.

“I would like to clear up any confusion I may have caused my dear fans and the media. I will never retire! I was put on this planet to sing and I will continue to do so as long as the good Lord lets me.”
