First of all, it’s not a conventional show, it’s a show“, he reveals.
The performances, as Marco says, take place in the theater, a revival of the culture of ancient shows: “It’s done on purpose in a theater, because a popular format at the time was to do a show in a theater. I myself saw Blitz, Paralamas and BarĂ£o Vermelho in the theater“.
The special touch also lies in the mix of songs with stories told during the show. With his talent as a director added to the production and musical direction of Chelloformer bassist and founder of DetonatorsTHE Homage 85 immerses the audience in the whole atmosphere of the 80s.”I interact with the public. Something that was very common in the 80s and the songs I perform on the show are timeless. Songs that defined the ’80s and beyond“, he declares.
For old and new fans
For Marco, who receives affection from the audience during performances, the show is a place for all ages. “The generations that lived through the release of these songs have a very direct identification. And people who haven’t experienced it, are discovering the songs for the first time, have the same impact that we had when we heard these songs when they were released“, we read.
He himself is part of the fans who bond intimately with the songs played. In his work, the musician adds references to several iconic names of national rock, such as the group Red Baron and the singer Ney Matogrosso.
“It’s very difficult for me to list which artists influenced me or which songs influenced me, because a characteristic of the 80s, of this decade and of this national rock movement, was the“, reflects the artist, highlighting the names above.
“I think BarĂ£o Vermelho was a very faithful portrait of what we Cariocas were like at that time. A band from Rio, with Cazuza in the lead, a tanned, somewhat lazy boy. It was very nice. In terms of performance, the person who influenced me a lot was Ney Matogrosso“, he reveals, underlining Ney’s concern for several details essential to the formation of his vision on stage.
Plural career
To tackle such a diversified artistic path, Marco pays particular attention to the organization of his agenda. “Getting very organized, being very planned so that I have time to do everything, because I don’t exactly have a lot of free time“.
Node Homage 85where he takes on the role of musician, his directorial side also exerts a certain influence: “In the show, besides singing, I almost have this peripheral aspect all the time, on stage. I know what I’m singing, but I also know what’s going on around me. This is a look I developed as a director“. Despite his experience, he recognizes the limitations of directing his own show, which is why he chose to invite Tchello to this production.
The end of the tour Homage 85in fact, it will not be followed by a moment of rest.
