In an interview with Contigo!, rapper TZ da Coronel also talks about the representation of black artists on the most diverse artistic fronts
Owner of hits like Acoustic poetry 13 AND Create Essencethe rapper Matheus de Araújo Santosknown nationally as Coronel’s TZ (23), highlights the importance of culture and representation for the empowerment of black youth. Without forgetting his roots, he underlines that the struggle of the black community is great and that of everyone.
“As we dream and fight, it is crucial to remember where we came from and honor those who paved the way for us.“, begins TZ from Coronel, in an interview with With you!. “Our voice has power. We must use it to go beyond what they expect.”
The artist claims that currently more and more people of color occupy prominent positions in the most diverse art forms. For him, the movement is extremely important for young black people, who fight for a better future with more opportunities.
“Our history is within us and we can build a fairer future full of opportunities, overcoming barriers and paving the way for younger people. It is not a fight for just one, but for all. This way we can take back what is rightfully ours“, he says.
The artist also adds the pressure that black people face. “The fight is great. We know we have to be 10x better to prove our worth. Reality is harsh, but we are much more. We have a responsibility to do our best. Our struggle is different; We carry the glory and the pain of our history.”
