The mega event on the sands of Rio de Janeiro could repeat Madonna’s success with a historic performance
Surprise expected for 2025
Singer Lady Gaga is about to be announced as the attraction of a free event on Copacabana Beach in 2025, organized by the city of Rio de Janeiro. Mayor Eduardo Paes had previously suggested the singer’s arrival, as well as stating that he would repeat the formula that brought Madonna to the same place, in a show that entered the history of music in the city.
Although the city hall has not yet officially confirmed Lady Gaga’s name, columnist Lauro Jardim of the newspaper O Globo reported that the contract with the artist has already been signed. The document, according to the publication, contains clauses that maintain confidentiality of the final details of the negotiation for the presentation of the star.
Show in May 2025
The date of the event has not yet been announced, but there are indications that Lady Gaga’s show will take place in May, the same month as Madonna’s show in Rio. Furthermore, the Copacabana Palace hotel, which hosted Madonna, would have blocked reservations for the period between the 14th and 21st of the same month.
The mega event promises to draw crowds to Rio’s waterfront and is expected to further cement the city’s image as a destination for large-scale, free music performances.
