The band will conclude The Future Past tour with two performances at Allianz Parque, São Paulo; tickets are sold out
At the end of this week, the Iron Maiden comes to Brazil for the 14th time for shows. The band performs at Allianz ParkIn Saint Paulnext Friday (6) and Saturday (7), as part of the tour commitments The future past — which will be closed here, as they celebrate their 50th anniversary in 2025 with the Run for your life. Tickets are sold out.
The concept of the current excursion is somewhat curious. Since the group had already dedicated part of the previous tour, The legacy of the beastto promote his latest album, Senjutsu (2021), it was necessary to have something different for the next series of shows. So, they decided to mix the songs from the new album with the songs of Somewhere in time (1986), a work little remembered by English musicians in recent times.
Steve Harrisbassist and leader of Maiden, explains the idea behind it:
“Since it didn’t make much sense to repeat it for the album tour Senjutsuwe thought about other opinions and decided to revisit Somewhere in time because his tour hasn’t appeared in the various historical retrospective tours we’ve done over the years. They were based on our concert videos from the 80s and unfortunately we didn’t film this tour (manager’s fault!!!). We’ve had many fan requests over the years for his songs and now we’re going to play them, plus, of course, a few more that we know you’ll love!”

With a futuristic stage decoration, especially in reference to Somewhere in time —, the tour The future past he had the same repertoire in all shows. Before visiting Brazil, the group visited North America, Europe, Asia and Oceania, as well as having played in Colombia, Chile and Argentina in recent days.
Attendance (and absence)
In total, Iron Maiden plays 15 songs in their show, for a total of one hour and 50 minutes of show. Five songs come from here Senjutsuor (in alphabetical order): “Days of Future Past”, “The Death of the Celts”, “Hell on Earth”, “The Time Machine” AND “The Writing on the Wall”. Five more were taken Somewhere in timebeing: “Alexander the Great”, “Taken Somewhere in Time”, “Heaven Can Wait”, “Stranger in a Strange Land” and, in closing, “Wasted Years”.
The other albums represented are Fear of the dark (with the track “Fear of the Dark”), Iron Maiden (with “Iron Maiden”), Piece of mind (with “The Soldier”), Seventh son of a seventh son (with “I can play with madness”) AND The number of the beast (with “The Prisoner”).
It’s a different setlist from the group’s usual setlist, both in terms of presence and absence. On the first point, fans went wild with the tour which brought the first live performances “Alexander the Great”. Since its release in 1986, the song had never been performed on stage, until now. Other rescues include:
- “Taken Somewhere in Time”who had been out of shows since 1987;
- “Stranger in a Strange Land”released since 1999;
- “Heaven Can Wait”released since 2008;
- “The Prisoner”released since 2014;
- “I can play with madness”released since 2014.
As for the absences, there was the audacity in excluding pieces that practically never left the repertoire. During the tour, they did not perform songs such as:
- “The Number of the Beast” (the second most played by the band in their entire career);
- “Hallowed be your name” (third most played);
- “Run for the Hills” (fifth most played);
- AND “2 Minutes to Midnight” (sixth most played).
