In recent years, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross have worked on soundtracks for various films, from biopics to animations and fiction.

After a few years focused on creating soundtracks for films such as The Social Network (2010), Soul (2020), Rivals (2024) and Queer (2024), Trent Reznor and Atticus Rossmembers of the American industrial rock band Nine Inch Nailsrevealed how they are producing new songs for a new studio album, successor to Ghosts V–VI (2020).

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Reznor explained how the iconic group is “taking the inspiration we’ve gathered and channeling it into a project for Nine Inch Nailswhich we are working on now. We’re ready to get back in the driver’s seat.”

Trent Reznor revealed what his favorite films are, including one that serves as inspiration for the Nine Inch Nails.

In an interview for the “Four Favorites” section of Letterboxdduring a preview of Queerfilm directed by Luca Guadagnino, Reznor listed his favorite feature films.

The founder of Nine Inch Nails joined Atticus Ross to take care of the soundtrack Queerwhich hits Brazilian cinemas on December 12th. Both cited Taxi Driver (1976) and Blue Velvet (1986), directed by Martin Scorsese and David Lynchrespectively.

The list of ross was completed with Beverly Hills Cop (1984) and Betty Blue (1986). Already Reznor appointed Titane (2021) and Gemini – Morbid Similarity (1988) like the other two favorite films.

On Gemini – Morbid Similarity, Reznor explained: “The incredible feeling of dread from start to finish… You’re not sure what’s going to happen, but it’s going to be bad.”

“I love this film, and it’s been a great inspiration for what I try to do with the Nine Inch Nails. It makes you feel bad all the time,” he added.
