The drummer announced his retirement from the stage and played his last show with the band in Brazil this weekend
THE Iron Maiden published this Tuesday 10th a video on YouTube showing the latest live performance of Nicko McBrain. The drummer announced last weekend that he will retire from the stage. Simone Dawson will take control of the wands.
The shared video shows images of the show. Iron Maiden on Saturday, 7. The date marked the end of The Future Past Tour with the presentation at Allianz Parque, in Sao Paulo.
“Tonight is a very special evening, as some of you, I think probably all of you, know, because this morning we announced that Nicko announced he would be stepping away from live drumming with i Iron Maiden“, he said Bruce Dickinson to the audience during the video.
He continued, while Nicko thanked his fans: “For 42 years, Nicko he’s in that band. He was a drummer before I became a singer, he was a pilot before I became a pilot, and now he won’t leave the band, he just won’t play live with us anymore. So we have a lot more music to make tonight, and I want the rest of the night to be a celebration Nicka celebration of the joy he brought to everyone around the world, not just here in Brazil.”

In a statement published online (via Igor Miranda’s website), the drummer declares that, after 42 years, he will distance himself from the group’s activities.
