Documentary about the rise of Led Zeppelin hits theaters in 2025; watch the trailer

New documentary about Led Zeppelin should hit cinemas in 2025. Becoming Led Zeppelin will be released in Imax on February 7th, according to Sony Picture Classics. The countries where the feature film will be shown have not been announced.

Before being shown in around 200 Imax theaters, the film will have advance screenings in 18 places on February 5th.

The documentary explores the origins and rise of the band in the 1960s and features testimonies from the members Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and John Bonham. Becoming Led Zeppelin It will also have never-before-seen images mixed with concert videos. This is the group’s first authorized film.

“The cinematic power of Imax combined with authentic film sound creates an immersive and transportive viewing experience, allowing audiences to feel as if they were there, in the venues with the band,” said the director. Bernard MacMahon in a press release (via Variety).

“We spent five years crossing the Atlantic in search of rare and unpublished materials, such as footage, photographs and musical recordings”, said the screenwriter and producer Allison McGourty. “We then transfer each material using custom techniques, so that on Imax, these 55-year-old images and music look like they came out of the lab yesterday.”

Tom Bernardco-chairman and co-founder of Sony Pictures Classics, added: “I had an incredible experience watching the Led Zeppelin for the first time in August 1969, in Texas International Pop Festivalin Grapevine, Texas, and it has stuck with me ever since. I can’t think of a single film that so brilliantly delves into an artist’s story, shows how their music was created, and makes you experience it as if it were completely new.”
