Nominated in three categories at the 2025 Grammys, Chappell Roan revealed that recognition was ‘a double-edged sword’ for her
One of the biggest names in world pop in 2024 and one of the highlights among those nominated in the Grammys 2025, Chappell Roan revealed how “I’m going to say something controversial” if one of the golden gramophones he’s competing for wins.
It is worth remembering how it appeared in three categories: Song of the Year (“Good Luck, Babe!”), Revelation of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance (“Good Luck, Babe!”). In an interview given to Zane Lowe in the program A Carpool Karaoke Christmasthe young artist spoke about expectations with Grammy.
“I don’t have a speech yet, but you know me. I’m going to say something controversial. Why not? Girl, what do I have to lose? Courage comes from my heart, knowing that I’ll always be okay,” he explained in the conversation (via NME).
Second Chappell Roanrecognition in Grammy was “a double-edged sword, because I thought, ‘Yes, it’s a talent show for popular kids.'” She then said that “the flip side is, ‘Oh my God, how amazing is it that a gay performer has written a gay song that went to number one, with a gay songwriter who didn’t grow up in the industry, didn’t have an entry, and has been struggling for a decade?'”
This is honorable to me. It’s an honor to be nominated with some of the other artists.
