In the last episode of the program The breakupfrom the Rolling Stone, Lady Gaga has shared more details about his new album, tentatively titled LG7. The artist revealed that the song “Illness”released in October 2024, it was the first official single of the new production.
However the Gaga believes that the true inauguration of this new phase took place with “Die with a smile”a collaboration with Bruno Mars.
“It’s a significant part of my album,” he said Los Angeles Times on the song, which is competing for the Song of the Year award at Grandmother 2025.
“Die with a smile” was born during a late night recording session with Marswho was already exploring ideas for the project.
I sat down at the piano and said, ‘Okay, Bruno, show me the chords,'” Gaga recalled. “I don’t think he had any idea how much of a musician I am.”
LG7due out in February, highlights the musical abilities of Gagawhich returns to pop songs with more traditional structures.
The album is full of my love for music: many different genres, different styles and different dreams. It moves between genres in an almost chaotic way. And it ends with love. This is the answer to all the chaos in my life: finding peace through love.”
The artist described some of the themes covered in the album as a reflection on the bad decisions he made throughout his life, but stressed that the work ends in a very happy place.
Finally, in addition to “Illness” AND “Die with a smile”, Gaga has already begun planning the album’s signature visual moments, particularly its headlining performance at the festival Coachellawhich takes place in the United States in 2025.
“Music festivals for me are part of the music community,” he commented. Gaga performed at Coachella in 2017 following the departure of Beyoncé of the lineup, but the sudden nature of the replacement prevented their first headlining performance from being all it could have been. With only two weeks to prepare, he felt he didn’t have enough time to realize his full vision.
I really wanted to be there for the music fans and at the time there was all this excitement about being able to film parts of the movie A star is born (2018) at Coachella. So I did it and I loved it. But you know when you have a vision in mind for how you want to do something? Time to make it a reality… There is nothing that has affected me as profoundly in life as live music. For me this is almost a religion.”
