Syd Barrett (Pink Floyd) and Cass Elliot (The Mamas & the Papas) should get a biopic

The information was revealed by the owner of the company that guaranteed the availability of the songs from ‘Um Completo Desconhecido’, a film by Bob Dylan

While film – and music – fans turn their gaze A complete strangerbiopic of Bob Dylan which will debut in Brazil in 2025, two other great musicians will be able to tell their stories on the big screen: Syd Barrettfirst leader of Pink FloydAND Cass Elliotsinger of The mothers and fathers.

The information was shared by Peter Jaysenowner of the company responsible for ensuring that Dylan’s songs were available in the film.

While participating in the podcast The City with Matteo Belloni (go Igor Miranda), Jaysen said he is currently working on both projects.

The feature film on Barrett, in fact, would already have a directing cast: the documentary maker Wash Westmorelandfamous for the movie Forever Alice.

We had several meetings with Mama Cass Elliot’s estate and met her daughter Owen. We are close to acquiring the rights to your book, My mother Cass.”

There are no set release dates yet. The features have not been officially announced.

Who is Syd Barrett

Born in England, Roger Keith Barrett began playing the guitar at the age of 15.

He helped found Pink Floyd and appeared on their early singles, as well as their debut album, The Piperat the gates of dawn.

After leaving the band, he released two solo albums in the early 1970s, supported by his former colleagues, until he abandoned his music career.

He died on July 7, 2006, from pancreatic cancer aggravated by diabetes.

Who is Cass Elliot

Cass Elliot was born in 1941 in the United States. In the early years of her career she participated in several bands, but achieved success with The Mamas & the Papas – with whom she was introduced posthumously Rock’n’Roll Hall of Fame.

With the dissolution of the group in 1968, the artist embarked on a solo career. He died at the age of 32, in 1974, after a heart attack.

A complete stranger

The film tells the journey of a young Bob Dylan (Timothée Chalamet) from Minnesota to New York to meet the singer Woody Guthrie (Scoot McNairy) during an iconic performance at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival, when he included an electric guitar in his show and drove folk fans wild.

In addition to Timothée Chalamet and Scott McNairy, the film — which is expected to focus on Dylan’s meteoric rise in the music business in the early ’60s — also features Elle Fanning AS Silvia RussoDylan’s college sweetheart; Edward Norton like the musician Pete Seeger; AND Boyd Holbtower like the singer Johnny Cash.
