The country singer plans to enter politics and says he will talk to parties that share his ideas
Declaration on candidacy
Singer Gusttavo Lima has revealed his intention to run for President of the Republic in the 2026 elections. In an interview with Metrópoles, he stated that his decision was motivated by the need to seek solutions to the country’s problems.
“Enough with this history of right and left. It’s not about this, it’s about making a gesture for the country, in the sense of putting my knowledge to the benefit of a project to unite the population”, declared the singer, who is clearly identified with the law.
In addition to his connection with Jair Bolsonaro, for whom he has already expressed public support, Gusttavo Lima remains close to other right-wing political figures, such as the governor of Goiás, Ronaldo Caiado (União), who was present at his birthday in Greece and by Minister Kássio Nunes Marques, the nomination of Bolsonaro to the Federal Supreme Court.
Plan to start political negotiations
Gustavo Lima has declared that he intends to dialogue with parties that share his ideas. “I know many people and, even though I have never held any political office, I am an entrepreneur. I have created many companies and I know how to make the wheels turn. We must reduce bureaucracy so that the country functions better. The poor have no purchasing power and the agri-food sector can no longer bear to pay taxes and not have improvements to invest in its activities. I think I can help, perhaps I will change my mind by 2026, but today my disposition is very inclined to become a candidate for the Presidency of the Republic In the 2026,” he said.
“Brazil needs alternatives. I’m tired of seeing people in need without being able to do much to help them. I myself have faced many difficulties in life, but I took advantage of the opportunities I received. I came from a very humble background, I also lost three teeth, but of course I was able to treat myself, a condition that many people don’t have,” he said.
Controversies and political support
The singer’s name has recently been implicated in an investigation on suspicion of money laundering linked to online betting companies. However, the Public Ministry of Pernambuco (MPPE) requested that the case be closed due to lack of sufficient evidence for criminal action against him and his Vaidebet partners.
He has also been linked to scandals involving small town halls, which paid R$1 million for his shows, which represents almost the entire cultural budget and even many times more than the budget for departments such as health and education in these places.
