Andreas Kisser says Sepultura was “very surprised” by Eloy Casagrande in Slipknot

The drummer left the metal band shortly before the debut of their farewell tour and was announced as Slipknot’s newest member shortly thereafter

The guitarist Andrea Kisser talked about how the drummer’s departure Eloy Casagrande took the band by surprise Serious. In an interview with the portal Overdrivethe musician commented that the departure was announced shortly before the first show of the metal band’s farewell tour.

“We were very surprised by his decision. We were working [na turnê de despedida] for two years – with him – and three weeks before the first show, he decided to leave suddenly. It was very strange,” Kisser said.

According to the guitarist, everything for the tour was handled normally with the drummer. “We were discussing the set list, all the effects and everything [com a aprovação dele]but at that moment he decided to go,” he continued.

Kisser also said that, at that moment, the name of Greyson Nekrutman, the band’s current drummer, was the first that came to mind. “Because we were following him. My son, Yohan, showed me his videos, Derrick [Green, vocalista da banda] I saw him play with Suicadal [Tendencies] and it came to mind immediately. I called him and within 48 hours we were together,” she recalled.

Eloy’s departure from the band created a sort of rock dance of the chains. The drummer’s departure for Slipknot led Greyson to join Sepultura. And Jay Weinberg, who played in the band before Eloy, ended up in Suicidal Tendencies.

“We had to rebuild the plans and rehearse with Greyson. He did an incredible, incredible job. He gets better every time,” Kisser concluded.
