The essay with the theme “Challenges for the valorization of African heritage in Brazil” led to several mentions of Black Pantera
Famous for his anti-racist themed lyrics, the Black Panther had already surprised the public by revealing that several fans had mentioned his songs in the writing of the latest edition of National high school leaving exam (Enemy), held last November. Now, the band has shared accounts of people who got good grades by mentioning their work in the text of the essay, whose theme was “Challenges for the valorization of African heritage in Brazil”.
In a post on Instagram, the crossover thrash trio from Minas Gerais formed by Carlo Gama (vocals and guitar), Chaene da Gama (vocals and bass) e Rodrigo Augusto (drums) released a series of fan messages in an image. There are statements like:
“I quoted [a música] ‘Perpétuo’ in the Enem essay and I got 940, you are such an inspiration!”
“Say guys, I used it [a música] “Legacy” in the Enem essay and I got 960… we are all children of Zumbi. Thank you so much for the music and all your work, it makes a difference!”
“I got a 940 on the Enem essay using you as repertoire! It was my highest score on an essay. Thank you for everything.”
“I quoted [a música] ‘Candeia’ and it was the best grade of all the essays I did! If I get a place in the college I want, my skin will receive the unique symbol! A thousand thanks!”
The band expressed happiness at collaborating with the students. The caption of the publication reads:
“About BLACK REPRESENTATION, ANCESTRALITY, PRIDE and a lot of RACE. To the CANDIDATES who used our art as a reference, ETERNAL GRATITUDE. To the TEACHERS who always apply our songs, THANK YOU VERY MUCH.”
In November, revealing the number of Internet users who said they had mentioned it, the group said on Instagram (via Igor Miranda’s website):
“When your art is light for many people. Sometimes we have no dimension, but today was a beautiful day. Thanks to the candidates, to many young people who linked our songs to this theme, this very important issue. Hope for days better and more equal.
