Vice President of Rock World and daughter of Roberto Medina revealed difficulty in making a choice, but pointed out two performances in 2022
Several artists of various genres and ports passed through the stage of Rock in Rio over 40 years. In Brazil alone, the event has had ten editions, always with a high number of dates and attractions.
Which of these named names for the festival made the best performances? Roberta Medinavice president of Rock world (company responsible for the event) and daughter of the creator ROBERTO MEDINArevealed his choices in an interview with Tracklist.
Although without highlighting options in a more definitive tone, the businesswoman pointed to the shows of Coldplay and Green Dayboth in the 2022 edition of the festival. Also recalled that the father always quotes James Taylorin the first achievement, in 1985. Regarding this, initially, she comments:
“Personally, the only show Roberto saw in 1985 was James Taylor’s and says it was the best emotionally for him. Unfortunately I remember almost nothing of the first edition. It is very difficult to choose just one, it is 40 years of an amazing trajectory of shows at Rock in Rio, which is now regarded as the Super Bowl of music where artists give everything to show unique shows to the world. Now, of course – and I didn’t see it! – that the show of Queenin 85, with the whole audience singing ‘Love of My Life’it’s something that is rooted in our history. ”
Following, Roberta points to her choices, despite the slightly afraid tone. She says:
“In 2022, the Coldplay was another highlight, it was a magical experience when the band lit the whole city of rock, impossible not to be enchanted by that moment that undoubtedly entered history. In the same edition, the Green Day show was also one of my favorites, and I’m very excited to review the band at The Town on September 7th. ”

In an interview from 2024 to the newspaper The globe (via Igor Miranda website), Roberto Medina exalted precisely the presence of James Taylor in the Lineup of Rock in Rio 1985. For him, the artist held the best show in the history of the event.
“Many I would classify as a must see. But what touched me most, the favorite, was James Taylor’s in 1985. James was I who chose. He did not do more shows, lived isolated in a ranch. I went there and convinced him. And that was the only show I saw in the first Rock in Rio, it was a crazy operation that, I couldn’t see anything. But that I made a point. As it was a stamped figure already, I put sunglasses and cap and went to the gargling line. A beautiful moon. Unforgettable.”
The next edition of Rock in Rio takes place in 2026. The the Town festival of the same creators will be held in São Paulo next September. Attractions such as Green Day, Katy Perry and Bruce Dickinson They are confirmed.
