Music Mcrae says it was ‘devastated’ after album leakage: ‘nothing I can do’

Singer revealed at an event from Spotify who wrote two extra songs to replace the tracks that ended up on the internet

During an event of the Spotifyon Tuesday night (February 18), Tate mcrae talked about the impact of the leakage of his album “So close to what”which had several demos released on the internet before the official launch.

Unfortunately, much of the album was leaked, which was a mer **.

And I think this obviously makes you look at the project in a different way… I was simply devastated because I thought: ‘There is nothing I can do about it. The whole project is online. ‘

Given the situation, the singer decided to return to the studio and compose new songs to compensate for the leaked tracks. “The way my brain works to solve problems, I just thought, ‘There is nothing I can do now'” explained.

All I did was go to the studio and write a few more songs. I wrote ‘Like I of’ E ‘Bloodonmyhands’ and tried to recover as much control as possible from this situation.

Leaked we did not represent the final versions

Mcrae also explained that her creative process involves several changes until the songs are finalized, which made the leaks not reflect the result she planned to present to the public.

“There are some letters you put on paper and then think, ‘Want to know, I won’t launch it. I need to change.'” he said. “You make all these adjustments at the last minute. And this is a beautiful part of the process. Without it, everything is very stressful.”

The singer also stressed that the leaked demos were not completed. “The demo never sounds the way you want. Always missing something,” explained. “And yes, at that moment, I could only think, ‘They are not ready, they are not as I wanted.’ And that was difficult. “

New album and partnerships

Despite the album leaked, Mcrae knew how to take advantage of the situation and even mocked the episode by releasing an excerpt from “Sports Car”writing in the caption: “You forgot to leak this one.”

The album “So close to what” was officially launched this Friday (21) and has the singles “2 Hands” and “It’s ok I’m ok”besides collaborations with your boyfriend, The Kid Laroiand the rapper FLA MILLI.

About the partnership with Flo Milli, Mcrae revealed process details:

I love Flo Milli’s voice, and this is my first Miami Bass style track… This was the last song I added to the album. I wrote in New York and had only a second verse.

I thought we should put a rapper on this track, and then Flo wrote its part a week later. It was crazy. The song was literally delivered two weeks ago.
