THE Met Gala this year’s theme was the exhibition Superfine: tailoring black style. In your Instagram, Lord He thanked the designer for the “Modern Mystique Visual”:
“It was amazing to feel so much joy, energy, pain, healing and resumption in the carpet and inside the room. I’m grateful to have been invited to this space,” he wrote. “I felt all the parts of me that came together in the years since my last time there. My skin was chaos, but my inside shone.”

Virgin marks the artist’s first album in four years. Produced by Lord and Jim-e stackthe disc has collaborations of Dev Hynes, Daniel Nigro, Fabiana Palladino, Andrew AGED and Buddy Ross.
The first single, “What was that that”brings hypnotic beats and synth-pop that refer to the era Melodrama.
In an email sent to fans, the artist described the album as a reflection of her femininity “raw, primal, innocent, elegant, spiritual, male”:
I’m proud and afraid of this album, ”he wrote.“ There is nowhere to hide. I believe that putting our deepest parts in music is what frees us. ”
In an interview with Documentshe still reflected on the process:
I came back from London to New York after a turbulent period. I finished a relationship, faced the questions with my body and started to feel my genre expand. Being back home brought a large wave of mourning. I just thought, ‘What was all that?’
