Musiczakk Wylde recalls final show with Ozzy and reveals the singer’s final message

Longstanding guitarist of the late vocalist quoted him as his “older brother” and reflected: “It was so easy to live with him”

Zakk Wylde He spoke warmly about his long relationship with Ozzy Osbourne And he shared some memories of his latest performances together in a new interview for Guitar World.

The conversation marks the first time Wylde has spoken publicly since Osbourne’s death last week. Wylde began playing with Osbourne in 1987 and continued to perform and record with him regularly over the decades. Even when they weren’t working together, they remained close friends.

He said:

“Oz was just the best. I have my father, who was a World War II veteran; and Ozzy, who was almost like an older brother. There was a difference of almost 20 years between us. In our relationship, there was the fun of drinking – but if I needed advice, I could talk to him.”

Then he then joked:

“There were questions about how to drink and how not to drink. You know, the important factors of life!”

Zakk participated in Ozzy’s farewell show earlier this month in Birmingham, England. This was the last time he saw Osbourne, but Wylde also admitted that she was a little too agitated for both of them to have a quality time together.

“Everyone and his mothers were in the behind -the -scenes dressing room and I just wanted to take him a break. I figured we would see him later – the next day or something. But no. The last message I received from the Oz was: ‘Zakky, sorry, it was crazy there. I didn’t see you.’

In the Back to The Beginning Show, Wylde took the stage for some Osbourne classics, including “Mama, I’m Coming Home” and “Crazy Train”. During “breast”, Wylde said he tried to keep his guitar away from the microphone so that he could help Osbourne sing because he was “having difficulty in certain notes.”

Wylde continued:

“I thought, ‘I need to make sure I’m always there so I could dubbed it.’ I was about 90 centimeters from the microphone when I started playing the song. I thought, ‘I need to get close to the microphone, so I had to stop playing, lift the guitar and put it on the microphone. Being the most important show of all, but everything happens in a hurry! ”

From the beginning, said Wylde, he and Osbourne have had incredible chemistry. He says:

“Lions attract lions. And the hyenas you walk with, it resolves later! But Ozzy was the quietest and most friendly guy. It was very easy to get along with him.”
