NX Zero vocalist recognizes that the genre doesn’t have so much strength on streaming platforms, but points out another space where he can stand out in numbers
Much is commented on a supposed decay of artists and rock bands. It is a fact that the most traditional media spaces have not brought younger names of the style, but a data highlighted by Di ferrero It shows that the situation cannot be evaluated with pessimism regarding the musical genre in question.
During an interview for the newspaper O Estado de S. Paulo, reporter Danilo Casaletti recalled that pagoda, countryman, rap, funk and trap come among the most heard songs on the streaming platforms in Brazil. Rock, in turn, does not appear directly, only as influences for some of these artists in evidence in the national charts.
Di, in turn, recalls that in relation to numbers, artists and rock bands stand out in another type of survey: sale of tickets for shows. The singer of Nx zerotoday also in a solo career, reflects:
“I don’t cling to numbers because I’ve seen worse, crises, now it’s going to get worse … Both do it. Both has always been a half -on -one style. So you turn the alternative rock and always burst. An artist, an influence … If you see, in Constância, the artists who sell the most concert tickets, in festivals, are the rock artists.
According to a pollstar survey, among the 10 artists and groups that raised the most tours in 2024, three of them come from rock: Bruce Springsteen (5th place), Rolling Stones (6th) and Metallic (9th). Already in a list published by journalist José Norberto Flesch, of the 10 names that gathered the most public in presentations in the city of São Paulo – disregarded festivals – four are related to the genre quoted: Linkin Park (2nd place), Iron Maiden (3rd), BRING ME THE HORIZON (7th) and Eric Clapton (8th).
Does the artists who lead the streaming charts unable to bring audiences to their shows in the end? Di prefers not to nail a direct answer to this question.
“I think it’s the way music is consumed. There are several ways. There are a lot of people who listen to radio, which is more eclectic. There are people who listen to playlists, who don’t care much about going after news. Democratization of the internet has made everything very branched. There are some Pop trap artists who can withdraw this language and expand as well.
