Davi Bandeira reached the top of the US album chart iTunes Brazil with Against the lawbut the news goes far beyond the performance graphs. The project, which surpassed the releases of the major record companies, was entirely financed by off-stage work: the artist has been working since 2020 as courier on motorbike and employee at Emelly Pizzeria in your hometown, Juazeiro do Nortein Cariri Ceará.
For about a year, David Bandeira participated R$ 10 thousand of his work to facilitate every stage of the album’s production, from studios to music videos.
The story behind the feat began after the release of his previous album, INTENSE. Davi faced a period of personal and professional crisis which led him to take a break to take care of his mental health.
Away from the spotlight and back to his roots, he saw the creation of new work as a tool for survival. The person of Against the lawthat explores haslike espionage and freedom, he was born as an alter ego to deal with his vulnerabilities. “I created someone I wanted to be at that moment. Someone strong, confident and unshakable,” details David Bandeira.
“I went through a very unbalanced emotional period. I saw my personal and professional life falling apart and I no longer wanted to be myself. […] I created someone I wanted to be at that moment. Someone strong, confident and unshakable, completely different from how I felt.”the artist specifies in a statement.

Real life, however, brought stories that read like a movie script: “There are some issues with rude customers, but I also had a customer ask me to send an autograph with the pizza”have fun David, who saw the recognition of his artistic work arrive together with the delivery orders.
This double trip created unusual scenes in Juazeiro do Norte: “Sometimes my friends come to visit me while I’m working. Max Petterson sits on the sidewalk with me and we talk, and people stop to take pictures with him. It’s really fun,” he says, highlighting the contrast between local fame and the reality of anonymous work.
It was this determination that allowed him to assemble a team of strong producers, such as enzo di carlo (Pabllo Vittar, Marina Sena) e George Lucas (Jão), ensuring high-level production for the album.
Musically, Against the law It’s a personal reckoning. The closing track, BIG BANG!!!is a reinterpretation of his first song, which generated a wave of in 2014 cyberbullying which almost made him give up. Number 1 on iTunes is not an isolated fact, but the confirmation of a potential already highlighted by critics, positioning Davi Bandeira as a relevant case of self-management and strategy in Brazilian music.
