From the long-awaited returns to the new names on the scene, we selected the national and international releases that are worth playing this week
Starting with the highlights of the week, we go straight to Pará. Creator of beat melody, Zaynarareleases his second album, Perennial Love. Forget the labels: the artist mixes the drama of romantic ballads with the pulse of tecnobrega and the strength of pop, showing that her music has the ambition and reach of a national phenomenon, and not just a regional one.
The week also marks the debut of the talented artist’s first album Gab Ferreirawhich arrives with Carousel. After EPs and mixtapes, this album is the consolidation of his art, promising a unique fusion between introspective indie and experimentalism, with psychedelic influences.
In the axis of conceptual pop music, the diva Uriah returns with the album Frown. The title says it all: it is a new phase full of symbolism, resistance and a raw Brazilianness.
Let’s also go gaucho rock, the legendary Carlinhos Carneirovocalist of Bidet or Bucketreleases his first solo album, Hotel Ritz. A conceptual album full of guests (like Catto and Supervão), which mixes fiction, the absurdity of everyday life and personal memories.
Still on the rock voice and guitar team, Teago Oliveira (vocalist of Maglore) presents his second solo album, Old World Songsreaffirming his authorial talent.
In foreign countries, two big underground and pop names celebrate new phases with robust albums: Princess Nokia release the album girls. The New York rapper and singer, known for her irreverent and militant attitude, delivers a project that celebrates “girlhood” outside the urban scene, with tracks that are “delicate and sinister” at the same time, as she herself described.
Richard Ashcroftthe legendary vocalist of The Vervecomes back with the album Lovin’ You. The album, which has already been praised for its uplifting, genre-blending tone, arrives shortly after Ashcroft having been a special guest on the reunion tour of Oasisand will soon be passing through Brazil.
For those who love reinvention, we have remix albums of the sensation PinkPantheress and the band English Teachergiving new looks to tracks that have already become hits.
