“In 2024, I asked myself, ‘Why am I doing this to myself?’” said the singer confirmed at Lollapalooza Brasil 2026. “Then I started doing shows again, and it all made sense.”

And, at the end of this stage, the pop star paused for an emotional speech about how performing — and bringing joy to queer audiences — made her remember why she loves what she does.

“I wasn’t going to do a US tour, and at the last minute I decided to do one — and I’m so glad I did. It’s so fun. This job is amazing. Thank you for making it amazing,” she said. Roan to the packed audience at Brookside at the Rose Bowl (via Rolling Stone). “It all made sense this year: why do I do this. Last year, I really asked myself, ‘Why am I doing this to myself? I’m so sad. I feel so out of place in public. I feel so weird all the time.’ And I always thought, ‘Why am I putting myself through this? If it drains me so much, what’s the point?’” She continued:

“And then I started playing shows again, and it all made sense — it was literally about bringing joy to queer people and telling them that it’s okay.”

Roan also recalled the importance of Los Angeles in his journey of self-discovery and spoke about the need to protect peace and happiness, especially in difficult times in the country and the world.

“There are so many things in the world that are like ‘f*ck it’ — and then there’s this. The only thing that really matters to me right now is joy. And protecting it, with peace and security,” he said. Roan. “So I hope you guys know that when you’re here, you’re safe, and that I want you here. You can be whoever you want tonight.”

“You are valued for everything you are. Even if you’re not queer, I hope you know that I include you. This isn’t just for gay people,” he added. “Thank you for being here, for supporting me and supporting each other. This is the biggest headlining show of my career. So thank you.”

She concluded her speech by saying, “Moving to the city is what inspired the entire album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princessand I wrote all my favorite songs here. I am who I am because of this city. So, thank you.”
