New feature film by Kleber Mendonça Filho (Bacurau), starring Wagner Moura (Civil War), opens in Brazilian cinemas in November
Just a few weeks away from debuting in cinemas in Brazil and around the world, The Secret Agentnew film by Kleber Mendonça Filho (Nighthawk) starring Wagner Moura (Civil War), which is expected to represent Brazil at the 2026 Oscars, received the “Fresh” certificate, based on the evaluation of specialized critics, in the Rotten Tomatoes.
In May, when it premiered at the Cannes Festival, where it won an award, and the review aggregator started to have its first impressions of the film, The Secret Agent had already received 100% approval based on 14 reviews. Now, the number of reviews has risen to 66 and secured the certificate with the same approval as five months ago. Check it out:
What is the story of The Secret Agent?
In The Secret Agent, Marcelo (Wagner Moura) is a university professor, who flees to Recife to escape government agents who are looking for him for subversive activities. However, upon arriving in the city, where he believes he is safe until he can flee the country with his young son, he discovers that he has been sworn to death by an old enemy.
