Singer Shakira released the video for “Monotonía”, her first job after her divorce from football player Gerard Piqué.
Partnership with singer Ozuna, the video was recorded in September in the city of Manresa, Catalonia (Spain), and shows the singer with a hole in her chest, after being hit by a bazooka shot.
He appears walking through the streets with a bloody heart in his hands, and the metaphor extends to the images of the organ being trampled by passers-by and finally placed in a safe.
In the lyrics, Shakira sings that “It wasn’t your fault, it wasn’t mine / It was monotony,” trusting that the breakup had become predictable. “I never said anything, but it hurt me / I already knew it was going to happen.”
But despite that refrain, he points his long fingers. “You left me because of your narcissism,” she says in one of the song’s highlights.
The most interesting thing is that, although the subject is painful, the recording is far from painful. The beat is pop with a Caribbean groove, which you can even dance to.
Shakira and Piqué have been together for 12 years and have two children, Milan, 9 and Sasha, 7. They broke up in the middle of the year and avoided discussing their reasons in public.
