The show will feature tracks from Rita Lee’s 1975 album “O Fruto Proibido”
Singer Manu Gavassi will register the project today in Sao Paulo MTV Acoustic: Manu Gavassi sings the forbidden fruitin which he pays tribute to the singer Rita Lee. The show will come in as a Paramount + original production, in collaboration with F / Simas. MTV hasn’t revealed when the project will air.
“When I got the idea to pay tribute to The forbidden fruit, I had no idea how much fun this MTV Acoustic was going to be. The whole process, from the scenario, to the choice of the band – made up only of women – and the rehearsals, was all a bit magical. It’s crazy to think that Rita Lee was my age when she wrote these songs (over 47 years ago) and I think I identified with those words so much at this point in my life not by chance. This is a very special project for me “, she declared, in a note sent by the press office, Manu Gavassi.
MTV has produced more than 100 recordings of the Acústico special around the world since 1989. In Brazil, Titãs, Cássia Eller, Legião Urbana, Capital Inicial, Engenheiros do Hawaii and Marcelo D2 were some of the names that participated in the project: the first official airing was Barão Vermelho, in 1991.
More recent international productions include BTS, Miley Cyrus and Liam Gallagher. In Latin America, the list includes: Acoustic MTV Tiago Iorc, Molotov: MTV Unplugged – El Disconecte, Fiesta Nacional (MTV Unplugged) by Los Auténticos Decadentes, Bosé: MTV Unplugged, among others.
The concept of Acústico MTV is to offer artists a space to recreate their music acoustically, in an intimate setting, close to the audience. The first MTV Acoustic was recorded in 1989 with the British group Squeeze, while the first acoustic concert produced in Latin America was Los Fabulosos Cadillacs in 1994.
