Erasmo Carlos’ family, team and band have released a note, this Tuesday 22, informing that the artist’s vigil will be reserved for family and close friends. The vigil will take place on the afternoon of this Wednesday 23 in Rio de Janeiro. The time and place were not disclosed. The singer-songwriter died on Tuesday at the age of 81.
“On the day of the musician, our beloved Erasmo Esteves, Erasmo Carlos, Gigante Gentil, Tremendão, the father of national rock, said goodbye. Erasmo created, loved, accompanied each of us in the important moments of our lives”, highlights the Note.
“And in addition to all the wonders he has composed and sung for decades, he has left us messages: the future belongs to the young guard. And that it is necessary to know how to live! We will continue to take care of the new generations, for us and for him,” she adds his team.
The press release also informs that the vigil will be reserved for family and close friends and underlines that “whoever wants to honor him, listen to his songs, his messages”, and that “nothing would make him happier and more loved”.
The same note reports the information, supplied by the Barra D’Or hospital, that Erasmo had been hospitalized in the ward since the 2nd of this month, “with panniculitis complicated by sepsis of cutaneous origin”.
Panniculitis is inflammation of the fatty layer under the skin. Sepsis is the body’s reaction to an infection, affecting the functioning of tissues and organs and can be fatal.
