BTS: Jin Reports to the South Korean Army

Jin, the oldest member of BTS, began his mandatory military service on Tuesday, the 13th.

Jinoldest member of BTS🇧🇷 presented himself to the South Korean army this Tuesday, 12, in Yeoncheon – a region close to the border with North Korea. At the age of 30, the idol had the support of fans, who went to the door of the training camp to say goodbye, according to the NPR🇧🇷

The service is expected to last 18 months. The first five weeks will be dedicated to basic training, where you will learn how to handle weapons, grenades and other procedures. After that period, Jin will be sent to another army unit in the country.

The enlistment of members of the BTS sparked debate in South Korea. There was discussion in parliament about the possibility of reducing the length of service, but the idea was not approved. In 2019, a revision of the rule established the possibility for globally recognized K-pop singers to postpone enlistment until age 30, which became known as the “BTS Law”. The previous law provided for compliance up to 28 years.

The enlistment period impacted BTS’ activities. As announced by the group’s agency, Hybemembers should focus on solo projects, as a full reunion will not be possible for years to come.
