the brazilian singer Elza Soares died this Thursday, January 20, in Rio de Janeiro (RJ), aged 91. After a decades-long career, more than 30 albums released and being considered the Voice of the Millennium, the artist performed for the last time in Belém do Pará, at Festival Psica, on December 19, 2021, according to information from the Roma News.
Next to his nephew, the singer of Brazilian rhythms Renegade, the singer was greeted with shouts of “Olê, olê, hello” and published a video on Instagram singing “My Guri,” in Chico Buarque, to a packed audience. Watch below:

According to information from the artist’s advisory, Elza Soares died of natural causes. With a remarkable voice, more than 30 albums and lyrics about racism, feminism and love, he has made an invaluable contribution to the national repertoire. The official statement from the singer’s team reads: “It is with great sadness and regret that we inform you of the death of the singer and songwriter. Elza Soares, aged 91, at 3:45 pm at his home in Rio de Janeiro, due to natural causes.”
