Nicki Minaj has rekindled her feud with former White House COVID-19 advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci, posting a mocking video and a series of messages on X following his appearance before a Senate committee.
In a clip she titled Dear Diary, the 43-year-old rapper sat in near darkness and impersonated Fauci writing in his personal diary. She opened in a slow, measured voice, saying the press was hot for him, that Julia Roberts gasped at how handsome he was, and that Brad Pitt had played him on SNL.
The bit drew directly from Fauci’s real diary, which Republican Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky released before the congressional hearing. The 1,100 pages, spanning December 2019 to December 2022, revealed Fauci’s relationships, his political frustrations, and his growing celebrity profile. In one entry from May 13, 2020, Fauci described an Instagram conversation with Julia Roberts, writing that she put her hands in front of her mouth and said it was Dr. Fauci, that he was there, and went on to call him her personal hero.
Minaj’s video parodied that sense of self-importance. In the fake diary voice, she said he was coining terms like “Fauci ouchy,” had Bobbleheads made of himself, and that he and his associates would ruin the lives of anyone who asked questions. She joked that she was writing an autobiography to be called Fauci Ouchy.
The parody shaded into sharper criticism in her posts on X. Minaj wrote that feeding tubes would be Fauci’s portion, that he would lose the ability to speak, and that only then would he feel the collective pain and long-term effects he caused to newborns, young children, traumatized pregnant women who could not have family in delivery rooms, and the elderly who died alone and afraid.
She also cited ongoing mental health struggles among young people, people turned away from hospitals, the erosion of public trust in governments, and what she described as billions in stolen taxpayer money.
In a separate post she struck a more sardonic tone, writing that when she saw booster shots being recommended every five to ten business days she went into her backyard and started building what she called Nicki’s Arc.
She closed one post by saying she had been struggling to find humor in any of it and offered a blessing to everyone who made it through.
Divided Reactions
The posts drew a split response. Actor Rob Schneider praised Minaj on X, calling her a rarity in show business and a real truth teller. Critics pushed back, with one commenter writing that Fauci has more than 50 years of science and public service behind him and that Minaj had scandals and a social media account.
Minaj’s tirade followed Fauci’s volatile appearance before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, where he accused lawmakers of trying to put him behind bars and invoked his Fifth Amendment right not to incriminate himself more than 100 times.
