Peruvian Film Cycle Screens at Alliance Française in Miraflores

The Alliance Française in Miraflores is running a cycle of Peruvian films called Memoria, territorio y cine, pairing features and documentaries with discussions led by film critic Ricardo Bedoya.

Escena de 'Canción sin nombre', la premiada película de Melina León.

The program includes Canción sin nombre, the debut feature by Melina León, described as one of Peru's most decorated films. Set in Peru during the 1980s, it draws on reporting about the disappearance of children. It screens alongside the documentary Shiringa: genocidio y resistencia en la Amazonía, directed by Wilton Martínez. The organizers said all screenings would be presented in DCP format with 5.1 surround sound, preserving the conditions the filmmakers originally intended.

On Friday, the cycle continues with Islandia, directed by Ina Mayushin, which won best film in the Hecho en el Perú section at the Lima PUCP Film Festival 2023. Rodo Arrascue's documentary Ino Moxo follows. Bedoya holds a discussion after each documentary. All screenings take place at Cine Lumière through July 31.
