Sri Durga Arts has released the first images from "Varanasi," the new film from Indian director S.S. Rajamouli, best known for "RRR." The images show one of the film's lead characters, named Ruthuru, played by actor Mahesh Babu, known for "Armed and Very Dangerous."
"Varanasi" is set to unfold across different parts of the world and span several thousand years of human history. Plot details have not been released. The film had previously been reported as the first Indian production shot for IMAX theatrical release.
Cast and release date
"Varanasi" is scheduled to premiere worldwide on April 7, 2027. Alongside Mahesh Babu, the cast includes Priyanka Chopra Jonas, known for "The Matrix Resurrections," and Prithviraj Sukumaran, known for "Demon," among other actors. The film's composer is M.M. Keeravani, who won an Oscar for the song "Naatu Naatu" from "RRR."
